What is Olaplex?
Olaplex treatment? What is it and what is it for?
Here are a few sentences on the Olaplexprocedure that I promised earlier.
For the sake of clarity and simplicity, I will avoid using technical language and do my best to explain everything in plain English.
1. One might choose from Olaplex 1, 2, or 3.
2. The Olaplex treatment consists of two parts, phases 1 and 2 which are applied in the salon. The duration of the procedure ranges from 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the severity of the damage. Any less than that, and its full potential will not be realized. Only the Olaplex therapy can reach the hair’s cortex and repair (rebind) broken disulfide bonds. Dyeing, blow drying, ironing, etc. all result in the breaking of disulfide bonds. When dyeing hair, an Olaplex treatment is also utilized as a pre-treatment. In order to prepare your hair for dyeing, you can lighten your current colour by completing one Olaplex treatment if your hair is already damaged. When the client takes the time to prepare the hair for colouring, we achieve excellent results. The difference is obvious.
In addition, once a month is all we suggest for the Olaplex treatment for relatively damaged hair. Two or three treatments spread out over the course of a month may be required if your hair is severely damaged. Extremely damaged and dry hair responds best to a combination of Olaplex and hydration treatment (which I will elaborate on in a future post). It’s been mentioned to me on a few occasions that some women report feeling “spiky” or “uncooperative” after receiving an Olaplex treatment; this is a positive sign that the therapy is effective. When disulfide bonds are joined, the hair becomes unmanageable and dry; as a result, it requires a hydrating treatment that will restore its natural state.
3. Olaplex is not a hair dye.
4. You can’t use Olaplex 3 (home care) to repair your hair; it’s only for colour maintenance. (Number 3 is a waste of money; invest in high-quality packaging instead)
5. Olaplex has an important role in maintaining your colour. Women who routinely use Olaplex to preserve their dyed hair colour never have to worry about it fading too quickly.
6. Have I bored you yet?
